A lifelong Florida resident and former member of the U.S. Army Jag Corps, Greg Steube is an attorney in the Firm’s Government Law practice group.
Greg focuses his practice in the areas of Federal Government Relations Consulting and local Government consulting and representation. With a unique understanding and perspective of Government law at the Local, State and Federal level.
Greg is an active member of our Federal Government Relations Team headquartered in our Washington D.C. office and works with firm clients in assisting with their needs at the federal level. He provides strategic interface between government relations clients from Florida and D.C. as well as insight and communication with the critically important Florida congressional delegation.
An elected member of the Florida Senate, Greg serves Senate District 23, which includes Sarasota and Charlotte Counties. Born and raised in Bradenton, he serves as Chair of the Judiciary Committee, Vice Chair of the Banking and Insurance Committee, as well as a member of the Agriculture Committee, the Regulated Industries Committee, the Appropriations Subcommittee on Finance and Tax and the Joint Committee on Public Counsel Oversight. Prior to serving in the Florida Senate, Greg served 3 terms in the Florida House of Representatives from 2010-2016, serving Florida House district 73.
At the local government level, Greg handles municipal issues such as Growth Management, Government in Sunshine Law, Transportation and Infrastructure issues, he can navigate a local government entity through the complexities of the issues they face on a daily basis such as procurement and bid protests, Administrative law and proceedings, ethics and election issues, and the array of public records laws. He is also experienced in issues relating to creating Public Private Partnerships to assist local governments with public works projects using private funding.
As a member of the Firm’s Public Private Partnership (P3) team which provides legal and consulting services to local governments that are interested in developing public projects with private funding and private companies seeking partnerships with local governments, he sponsored the P3 legislation passed in the 2013 Legislative Session. The law has improved opportunities for successful P3 projects throughout Florida. He is well-versed in the nuances of the law and has insights and knowledge of its key provisions (i.e. unsolicited proposal, funding mechanisms).
Greg served in the US Army JAG Corps, and served on active duty in the Army for over four years. He served as criminal Trial Counsel, Chief of Detainee Operations, Legal Assistance Attorney, and Administrative law Attorney as a Captain in the JAG Corps.
As a graduate of the University of Florida’s College of Agriculture with a Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science and a minor in Agricultural law, Greg has a unique understanding of Florida Agricultural and all matters related to farm and ranch agriculture. Greg has an understanding of production agriculture unlike most attorneys in Florida and can assist any production agricultural based industry or business including natural resource based industries with their complex and unique legal needs while also understanding their business.
