BECKER & POLIAKOFF GOVERNMENT RELATIONS CONSULTANT CEDRIC MCMINN ELECTED PRESIDENT OF MIAMI-DADE YOUNG DEMOCRATS

FT. LAUDERDALE, FL, November 25, 2009 – Becker & Poliakoff, P.A., a diversified commercial law firm with more than 130 attorneys in 13 Florida offices, New York City, New Jersey, Nassau, Bahamas, Prague and affiliated international offices, today announced that Cedric McMinn, a Government Relations Consultant with the firm's Government Law & Lobbying Team, was elected to serve as the President of the Miami-Dade Young Democrats. 

Mr. McMinn previously served as Vice-President of Political Affairs and Treasurer of the organization and recently was honored as the 2009 Young Democrat of the Year. He will serve a one-year term as president.

The mission of the Miami-Dade Young Democrats is to empower, educate and encourage young Democrats in Miami-Dade to become more actively involved in civic and political opportunities. The group was recognized as the 2009 Chapter of the Year by the Florida Young Democrats.

Upon accepting the gavel as the new President, Mr. McMinn said, “I am both honored and excited to serve the young democrats of the largest county in Florida. President Barack Obama inspires me to stand up for hope and positive change in our community, state, and country."
